Overview

Authorization Specialist

 

 

The Prior Authorization Specialist (RN) is responsible for ensuring timely approval and renewal of patient care services to allow Nuclear Care Partners (NCP) to meet patient care needs. This roles serves as the liaison between the Department of Labor (DOL) and NCP. This occurs through communication and coordination between the patient's family, the patient’s physician and the RN Case Manager.  The Authorization Specialist supports and creates positive environments through a personal commitment to the Company’s vision and values.

 

Salary: $33.00/hr. to $37.00/hr.  

Shifts: Monday through Friday, in office position with possible hybrid schedule once training is completed.

Responsibilities

• Manages care authorization, including new admissions and re-certifications.
• Remains detailed orientated in all work with close attention to deadlines.
• Maintains communication with DOL, Case Managers, Lead & Team nurses, non- licensed staff, support staff and ancillary services as required for approval process.
• Responsible for developing approval paperwork and process as program requirements and criteria change.
• Serves as back-up to reception and office administrator for telephone call coverage.
• Documentation and reporting on work completed as directed.
• Abides by and promotes all Agency policies and procedures.
• Supports and takes initiative on necessary state and federal program regulations by process development, implementation and evaluation of compliance and process for said regulations.
• Treats current company patients and perspective patient-families with absolute customer service with close communication, friendly service and the utmost professionalism.

Qualifications

• Current RN license required

• Bachelor’s degree preferred

• Excellent writing, organizational, and time management skills
• Experience writing letters of medical necessity
• Prior management or leadership experience
• Ability to work independently, multi-task, prioritize and function in a team environment.
• Must possess a professional, courteous, and customer oriented demeanor. Must be discrete, trustworthy, and possess high level of integrity.
